The Job:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is accountable for overseeing all financial, IT and risk management practices. This includes the development of the financial strategy, which addresses each of these key areas and underpins the strategic objectives of the business. You’ll be responsible for the development and monitoring of metrics tied to the achievement of the company’s financial strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results. Ensuring that a comprehensive financial strategy is prepared, updated at least quarterly, and implemented to support the strategic objectives of the company as defined by the Directors, you’ll see that performance measures and monitoring systems are implemented, which support the company’s strategic direction. You’ll prepare the detailed financial year business plan and budget based on key drivers, and facilitate the accurate and timely completion of all month-end responsibilities. You’ll be responsible for cash flow and financial management, annual audit and periodic reviews and strategic initiatives. You’ll assist in the origination and execution of potential strategic partnerships, investments, and financing activities, actively manage the company’s tax position and oversee the preparation of all instalment payments, tax returns/ incentive claims (company, FBT, R&D etc) and tax calculations to ensure their accuracy. You’ll also be responsible for the cost control across the business, including the assessment of expenditure trends and industry averages in order to identify cost reduction opportunities, arrange asset finance when required in an efficient and effective manner and manage internal stakeholder inquiries and requests for information to ensure the highest level of service delivery to the business.

Skills Required:
With significant experience working in a similar role at an executive level, ideally in a construction environment, you’ll be complemented by a Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred). Holding a current CPA or equivalent professional certification, you’ll have a proven track record in progressively responsible financial leadership roles, and have strong knowledge of financial management, accounting principles, and regulatory requirements. With experience in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting, you’ll have a demonstrated ability to analyse complex financial data and provide strategic insights. You’ll also have excellent leadership and team management skills, exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong business acumen and a strategic mindset. Proficiency in financial software and systems, you’ll also have experience leading and managing a small team.
