About the Opportunity:
The Category Manager role is responsible for influencing consumer demand to deliver new means of competitive advantage and value generation. Positively contributing to trade relationships through identifying and implementing agreed strategies to grow the categorises and brands which operate in those categories, you’ll develop, lead and execute strategic customer centred category plans, optimise value outcomes and meet all stakeholder needs and expectations on sales, profit and market share growth, based on quality business analysis and research. Achieving a high level of performance across all promotional campaigns, you’ll support key stakeholders build content and execute creative production, and you’ll successfully manage and maintain collaborative trade partner relationships. Leading negotiations on promotional investments, contracts, trade spend and logistics in order to deliver the best possible category and supply outcomes, you’ll develop effective planograms and oversee space allocation, layout and sales and promotional programs. Playing an important role within internal and external category management teams and working groups, you’ll work collaboratively with various cross functional teams to ensure a high standard of product presentation, promotion, conversion and customer experience. You’ll also manage products to ensure consistent supply by identifying, remedying and mitigating potential risks and resolving customer or store issues promptly and effectively.
With a passion for the customer and for delivering strong results, you’re ready to bring your proven commercial acumen to a business in which your input would be invited and recognised. Both hands-on and strategic in your approach, you thrive on using new knowledge and data to create meaningful and useful intelligence. Experienced in strengthening vendor relationships, you have a proven history of driving revenue and profitability by collaborating with external stakeholders and other business functions. With strong analytical and interpretive skills and accomplished influencing, written and verbal communication skills, you’re capable of understanding the impact of decision making on the business and are a keen problem solver and lateral thinker. Having had previous experience in category management and sales, preferably across either the convenience or grocery sectors, you’ll ideally be complemented by tertiary qualifications in Retail, Sales, Marketing, Business Management (or a related discipline), or have had equivalent on the job experience within a comparable environment. An engaging, personable and confident person with good energy and a positive mindset, you’re a proactive relationship builder and work effectively with others to achieve business goals. You have excellent planning and prioritising skills and you know how to apply and drive business analytics to measure performance results and develop and deliver strategic sales marketing campaigns that pack a punch!
