The Job:
The Leader of People and Capability drives the development and implementation of comprehensive workforce strategies that align with the school’s overall strategy, vision and values, and creates enriching employee experiences. Responsible for all aspects of human resources, you’ll create, lead and coordinate processes, projects and initiatives aimed at ensuring the school’s people practices support an engaged and effective workforce. Portfolios include talent acquisition, training and development, performance, employee relations, employment law and compliance, compensation and benefits, OHS, administration and HR system management. You’ll support continuous improvements in teaching and learning, leadership, staff retention and effectiveness, provide trusted ER and IR advice to leaders, and delver workforce practices that optimise organisational effectiveness. Championing change management strategies that support the success of projects, you’ll facilitate the continued growth of a positive and productive workplace culture, and promote a unified approach to staffing across the school, fostering collaboration and effective talent management practices. Leveraging systems and technology to gather and analyse data and develop initiatives that proactively address identified focus areas, you’ll lead the people and capability team, and will also design and deliver employee recognition programs that acknowledge and celebrate achievements, contributing to an overall culture of appreciation and motivation.

Skills Required:
With significant experience in a similar wide ranging role (experience in a school setting desirable but not mandatory), you are complemented by tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Organisational Psychology or similar, and have extensive knowledge of, and experience in, industrial and employee relations. You’ll have proven experience supporting successful change in partnership with stakeholders, and an ability to use coaching and consulting skills to deliver proactive and pragmatic solutions. A skilled communicator, you can effectively convey information, influence others and build positive, trusting relationships. With a passion to contribute to the employee experience within a valued-based organisation, and with strong analytical skills, you’ll also be able to use data, metrics and analytics to determine and drive priorities and be adept at managing employee relations, conflict resolution and performance management. Professional industry memberships and certifications (e.g., AHRI) would be highly regarded.
