About our Client:
Fruition is delighted to be exclusively partnering with a highly regarded consulting business in Geelong, who are going from strength to strength. Forward thinking and leading with strategy to help their clients drive their business goals and create a roadmap for positive change, they work with a wide range of businesses, from micro and small operations through to national brands. Delivered by a highly skilled and experienced team, they provide flexible and scalable business solutions but also maintain an intimate, user-focused approach. They also generously reward and recognise their people and foster an innovative culture focused on fun and high performance. As a result of increasing demand for their services, a rare full time opportunity now exists for an experienced General Manager to join the business and help position them for their next chapter of growth.

About the Opportunity:
Working collaboratively with the Managing Director, the leadership team, clients, vendors and employees, you’ll be the conductor to the symphony of the business operations and will harmoniously bring together all strands of the business that may not have been tied together in the past. You’ll partner with the Managing Director on short and long-term planning and ensure the business executes its business plan, achieving or exceeding planned profit and loss objectives. Creating conditions where accountability can happen, you’ll also hold people accountable, develop strategies for encouraging open communication, analyse business issues and steer people in the right direction with positive messaging. Responsible for implementing the strategic direction, you’ll foster a customer focussed culture, you’ll manage risks, you’ll develop and enhance internal systems, workflows and processes and you’ll improve resource utilisation and productivity. You’ll shape and develop ideas from conception to execution and facilitate decisions, including not only major decisions but also the hundreds of smaller ones regarding service features, quality standards, output, cost targets, schedules, and so on. You’ll lead a team of approximately 30 direct and indirect reports to drive efficiencies and change in all areas and achieve tangible business benefits while challenging and developing your own skills. Effectively driving the whole business forward, you’ll keep everyone focussed, ensuring departmental teamwork and cohesion by making sure everybody is moving in the same direction. Seeing all pieces of the puzzle and considering how everyone’s work fits together, you’ll clear obstacles, empower others to solve issues, build trust and have authentic, open conversations with those around you. You will continuously evaluate what, how and why things are done and leverage reports, analysis and recommendations to improve the operations of the business and level of services offered. You’ll resolve issues quickly and successfully, calling out problems and solving them in a practical and healthy manner. Passionate about aligning everyone to the business’ core values, you’ll also identify, develop and mentor internal candidates for future leadership roles.

About You:
With significant and proven experience as a people centred leader in a similar position, you will have a deep knowledge and understanding of business dynamics and functions, and of best practice business operations in a service based environment. With your follow through a key aspect of who you are, you thrive in positions of responsibility and you have an entrepreneurial view of work. Highly analytical, you’re able to make data-driven decisions and establish effective metrics. Action oriented, you’re skilled in being able to map ecosystems and in understanding when a person or team might be able to offer a unique skill set, and you naturally seek out others and show adaptability to engage opportunities. Having created, grown and led teams through periods of change and process improvement in the past, you’re confident, personable and hands on. Complemented by effective negotiation and exceptional communication skills, you enjoy bouncing ideas off others and have a strong capacity for resolving interdepartmental conflicts and disputes. Balanced, calm, considered and a lateral thinker, you have experience planning and executing improvements to raise capabilities across people, process, systems and management. With strong business acumen along with highly developed organisational skills, you have a proven ability to multitask, prioritise and meet deadlines. Analytical, forward thinking, reliable and proactive, you build solid relationships with people both in person and remotely. Self motivated, empathetic and with a passion for people and process improvement, you can also handle competing priorities well and are tertiary qualified in a related discipline. Formal project management qualifications would be highly regarded but not essential (eg: PRINCE2, PMI, PMBOK), and as a business that is leveraging the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS), any experience with this framework would be advantageous.

About the Perks:
Offering generous remuneration, our client encourages a high performing and collaborative work environment where individual and team efforts are recognised and rewarded. They’re also big on continuous professional development and work/ life balance with working from home options available, fresh weekly fruit, casual Fridays, quarterly team dinners and more!
